Mad Science Institute to gain new appendix, free download
Dated: June 17, 2012
An appendix titled “Soap’s Guide 2 Technology,” as well as a table of contents, will be added to the Kindle edition of Mad Science Institute.
The Kindle version featuring the new material will be available June 29, 2012, and will be a free download from June 29 to 30. In August, “Soap’s Guide 2 Technology” will be made available as a free PDF which may be downloaded from the author’s website, www.SechinTower.com.
These additions are designed to provide the reader with an easy reference guide to the fictional inventions, creatures, and locations related to the events of Mad Science Institute. “The story itself requires no scientific knowledge to understand,” says author Sechin Tower. “I wanted to include this new section for people like me who want to ‘geek out’ about the more imaginative aspects of the book. At the same time, I wanted to make it entertaining, which is why I have written it in Soap’s distinctive voice.”
“Soap” Lazarchek is one of the protagonists of Mad Science Institute, a science fiction thriller set in a present-day Minnesotan college town. In this novel, Soap is a socially awkward robotics student who teams up with her cousin Dean, a tough-but-troubled firefighter, to battle lizard monsters and a biker gang in order to stop a mad genius’s doomsday machine. In April,Mad Science Institute went to #3 in Kindle “Science Fiction” and has been downloaded by more than 2,000 e-book readers.

Dated: April 28, 2012
Mad Science Institute hit #3 in Kindle Free Science Fiction books today.
“This is crazy-town,” says author Sechin Tower. “This was a one-day marketing experiment that exploded. I never expected to break the top 100.”
The “marketing experiment” was the combination of a Kindle Select promotion and twitter announcements. The author has plans for a stronger marketing push for Mad Science Institute this summer with a blog tour, contests, and other forms of advertisement.
The Science Fiction category is currently dominated by widely popular works such as George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones and Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games. Only time will tell if first-time author Sechin Tower can find a stable place in their ranks.

Mad Science Institute, Debut Novel by Sechin Tower
Dated: December 16, 2011
Mad Science Institute, the debut novel by Sechin Tower, releases today in e-book format for the Kindle, iPad, Nook, Kubo, and all other e-readers. A paperback version will be available in January.
Mad Science Institute follows the adventures of Sophia “Soap” Lazarcheck, a girl genius with a knack for making accidental explosions, and her cousin Dean, a tough-but-troubled firefighter who finds himself unexpectedly in charge of a small college program founded by famed inventor Nikola Tesla. The two are drawn into a conspiracy involving a neo-Nazi biker gang, lizard monsters, experimental weaponry, and a doomsday machine that could destroy all of civilization.
“Above all, I wanted this to be a fun, fast-paced action story,” says Sechin Tower. “But I did have an ulterior motive: to make science and learning seem fun for a generation that takes it for granted. Lizard monsters and robots aside, Soap’s story is essentially about making the adjustment to college life. I wanted it to provide a sort of mythologized road-map for aspiring college students, most of whom don’t really know what to expect when they get there.”
Sechin Tower is a writer, game designer and teacher. He began work for Exile Game Studio in 2006 as editor of the role-playing game Hollow Earth Expedition, and went on to become chief contributor to the award-winning supplements Secrets of the Surface World and Mysteries of the Hollow Earth. He also teaches English at a high school in Kirkland, Washington.
